About Chris Casey

Chris Casey is an active Pianist, Composer and Arranger who performs extensively throughout New England and the New York area. Past performances include The Side Door, Springfield Jazz Festival, Paul Brown Monday Night Jazz Series, Theater Works, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos, New Britain Museum of American Art, Hill-Stead Museum, and Hartford Library Baby Grand Series.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree from The Hartt School in Jazz Studies where he studied under the direction of Jackie McLean, Jackie Byard, and Hotep Galeta.

He has performed with such greats as Jackie McLean, Nat Reeves, Steve Davis, Claudio Roditi, Slide Hampton, Houston Person, Jacomo Gates, Bob Berg, and Greg Banaszak.

Mr. Casey's works have been commissioned and performed by Curtis Fuller, Jackie McLean, Steve Davis, PBS Television, The Polish National Chamber Orchestra of Slupsk, Yale University, The United States Navy Band, and The Hartt School of Music. Recordings include "Double Vision", "Jazz in the Wild", "Sounds of Hartford", "Head over Heals", “Imagination”, “Winter Wonderland” and “Walk With Me”.

He has been on faculty for over 30 years at University of Hartford’s “Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz” where he was the Director of the Big Band for over 20 years. Other faculty appointments include The Greater Hartford Academy for the Performing Arts and Choate Rosemary Hall. Currently he is the Musical Director of The KC Sisters, a musical performing group that performs throughout the United States and appeared on the “America’s Most Music Family” series. He is also the musical director of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville.
